Because of instant accessibility to knowledge and technology, it is expected that humans should be just as accessible. This adds an intense amount of stress and pressure to workers seeking a healthy balance of a happy life and sustainable work environment.
We are no strangers to the creative world. Both the freedom that comes with this industry and the demand to develop and build your portfolio of work to continuing growing, is something we love.
But we’re also all about the outdoors. It’s what keeps the bright smiles on our faces and the positive attitudes in our minds. That’s why #SetYourStatus is so important to us.

The precursor to #SetYourStatus
We’ve encountered many new challenges and opportunities this year at F4D Studio. First, we launched a completely redesigned website (feel free to explore more of it here). What we’ve always told our clients is that it’s difficult to determine an exact project timeline without having all of the assets in place to produce the highest quality product. We learned that firsthand in just trying to put together our own portfolio. And it was our own work!
One of the great things about this process, though, was that we were able to begin organizing a stock catalog. I suppose that’s a pretty awesome by-product of organizing your back-end.
F4D Studio also packed itself up into moving trucks (and cars for the art) and relocated to beautiful Golden, Colorado. We love everything about climbing, hiking, running, skiing and just about everything else, and felt it was time to position our company in a location that feels the same way: Golden is that place.

So what is #SetYourStatus
#SetYourStatus is our way of telling the world, and our coworkers and peers, that we’re busy taking care of ourselves. For us, that’s climbing, hiking and mountain biking (or, at least that’s what our first three videos are about. We’ve got more coming for trail running, yoga, and camping).
In developing this campaign, our goal was to encourage our audience to acknowledge the time they are spending in the outdoors as valuable. During the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market that happened in June of this year, the Colorado Outdoor Recreation Industry Office (OREC) polled its social media viewers with a question about which one of it’s core tenants the viewers resonated most with. One that stuck out most to us had to do with the health benefits of being outdoors. This was great since it had been on our mind for sometime.
We know that fresh air is good for the body, and we’ve found that disconnecting from technology is just as good for the body and mind.
With this concept at the forefront of our thoughts, we began developing #SetYourStatus. What started out as a commercial devoted to getting people off computers revealed the idea that we, F4D Studio, need to also get outside more often. Now, we know that everyone all the time can’t just leave work and go outside – that’s not realistic. What is realistic is taking time away, guilt-free, from the computer, and connecting with nature in whatever way you see fit.
How does #SetYourStatus work?
F4D strategically aligned itself with the outdoors. We love it. We live for it. The brands we work for also love it and live for it. As we began producing for #SetYourStatus we realized that many of the brands we’re working with could use amazing content (not that they don’t have great content already, but in 2019 who doesn’t want better and more?)
With this at the forefront of our collective creative group, we really began wondering just how we #SetYourStatus. What does it mean to us? It starts with looking at our team and what we all love to do. Gabe is an adventurer who never says no to the opportunity to get outside and disconnect. Travis is a mountain biker who finds joy in punishing his legs with brutal climbs and insane descents. Tyler has yet to find a rock he doesn’t want to climb on. Rob finds artistic inspiration in soaring views from the tops of mountains. Britt runs a lot and also never backs down from a adventure.
We spent so much time developing concepts for other people that we never really stopped and looked at our own team. Once we did that we were able to see that we embody a message that our clients work tirelessly to instill in their audience. And now we have tapped into that and are bringing our message of #SetYourStatus to you.
#SetYourStatus is for everyone. Although we’re a bit selfish and throw it around the office like we invented the idea, it’s really just our take on the old idea of doing what you love without a care in the world.
