Have you visited the River North Arts District lately? It seems like every time you blink suddenly the entire RiNo neighborhood has a new coat of paint on it. Or a new brewery has opened. Or a new coffee shop is changing its name to any iteration of enter adjective – enter type of bird. It’s refreshing, daunting, and inspiring all at the same time.
F4D Studio worked out of RiNo for nearly eight years. Our time there was spent building a company, while simultaneously building up the community around us. We worked with nearly every business that came through the neighborhood, whether it was documenting new construction, promoting the thriving arts scene, or simply cold calling businesses to welcome them. We worked with artists like Thomas “Detour” Evans, Cavem Moetivation, Zion I Crew; We created content for brands like Qi Flow, Casselmann’s, and Oz Architecture; Our employees held art openings at Infinite Monkey Theorom, Matchbox, and Megafauna. It’s safe to say that we live and breath RiNo.
Over the years we cultivated a relationship with the River North Art District organization. In doing so we were able to see firsthand the impact of the growth and change in the neighborhood. Artists we worked with, musicians we photographed, the venues we worked in, all were seeing a growth unlike anything before. This inspiration led to many exciting projects within the RiNo Art District.

Having enjoyed this growth ourselves, we were honored to be asked by the RiNo Art District to create the latest film “Celebrating the Sum.” This film was designed to showcase the diversity of the area. This included profiles with artists, musicians, small business owners, big business owners, and even politicians. This eclectic and talented group of individuals are the driving factors of what makes RiNo so great. This, and the respect for inclusive tradition within the neighborhood.

Last month, RiNo Art District held its annual meeting at the Summit Church – a state of the union for the neighborhood, if you will. Hundreds of area members attended the meeting, which was kicked off by playing the “Celebrating the Sum” video. What followed were discussions about the success of the neighborhood initiatives. Members reacted to the success of Crush Walls, reigniting Brighton Boulevard and the support of the RiNo Made art gallery located at Zeppelin Station.
