GUERRILLA GRAVITY

BRAND RELATIONSHIP

Adventure

Inspired by the grit and explosive popularity of locally-owned and manufactured Guerrilla Gravity, F4D Studio approached the mountain bike company in 2017 with the intentions of helping the local brand make an enormous impression. What initially started out as a profile video of GG rider Eric Bodine has blossomed into a content partnership that has delivered brand videos, photography, event coverage and a web series promoting the brand’s newest offering: Revved Carbon Technology.

Our latest project with Guerrilla Gravity centered around the brand's Revved Carbon Technology. Titled "Is It Revved?" this web show, inspired by predecessors like "Will It Blend?" and "Mythbusters," allowed us to bring out the big guns for the local company. By producing four shows in the span of two filming days, F4D was able to turnaround the shows in time for a summer advertising push touting Guerrilla Gravity's newest technology, Revved Carbon.

The core tenets of the new tech were centered around it’s increased impact resistance and the ability to affordably manufacture carbon frames in the United States – something relatively unprecedented given the cheaper international material and labor costs. Guerrilla Gravity has managed to find a way to produce a better quality product in a more affordable way, domestically. “Is It Revved?” showcases the brands penchant for having fun while also being a bike that can take a massive beating.

F4D brought in a Phantom Flex4K camera to capture the drama unfolding in ultra slow-mo. The resulting footage garnered more than 10K organic views premiering on some of the most-trafficked online mountain biking forums.

This production was completed almost entirely in-house for F4D. Travis Conklin directed; Britt Chester hosted; Tyler Vitello operated camera A; and Gabriel Rovick was the director of photography. Ryan Sheets provided his expertise in operating the Phantom Flex4K camera.

States Traveled to for Filming

Since 2014, GG has been designing, fabricating and assembling its badass mountain bikes in Colorado's capital city. F4D originally approached the brand in 2018 because they, like us, are obvious fanatics for all things mountain biking. The first few projects found F4D co-owner Travis Conklin and cinematographer Tyler Vitello chasing GG riders and competitors through Angel Fire Resort in New Mexico.

Our second project with them found Travis behind the lens covering the Mega Cookout, an event held annually at Guerrilla Gravity headquarters. Live music, mini-bike racing and lots of beer is one way to sum up the day, but you can see for yourself in the video feed below.

The next event was The Good, The Rad and the Gnarly mountain bike race/scavenger hunt/costume party held at Angel Fire Resort in New Mexico. This event required by Travis and Tyler to travel to New Mexico and determine best filming practices in a highly improvised environment. Capturing mountain bike footage from a static location is relatively simple for great photographers – frame and capture – but getting footage that captures the essence of mountain biking, as well as the spirit of the event, requires a team that can adapt to its environment with ease. F4D did a great job of invoking the competitive, albeit light-hearted fun, of the event in our post-race footage and videos.

As 2018 came to a close, there was still the Guerrilla Gravity Moab Campout weekend – a highly anticipated event hosted by the mountain biking company at Goose Island Campground in Moab Utah. The event is open to the first 30 registrants and offers riders of all skill levels different options each day. The 2018 event found the entire crew taking over trails as far as 30 miles from the campsite. The event was co-sponsored by BEER and LIQUOR.

In the videos produced below, you’ll see how F4D took a simple concept like event documenting and turned it into a brand message. Each video is created with the event in mind, and since not all the events are the same (Cookout vs. Campout is two different environments) F4D was able to stay on-brand with Guerrilla Gravity and create videos that tell stories and inform.
